SEE IT: 70-year-old man pulled from rubble more than a day after fatal earthquake in Turkey

A 70-year-old man was pulled from the rubble after about 34 hours following a deadly earthquake in Turkey and Greece.

Ahmet Citim was found among the destruction of a collapsed building in Turkey Sunday following the Aegean Sea earthquake that has left at least 71 dead and more than 900 hurt across the two countries after hitting Friday afternoon.

According to the Turkish ministry of health, Citim was hospitalized and in stable condition after his rescue.

The earthquake’s strength has been the subject of some debate. The U.S. Geological rated it a 7.0 magnitude quake while Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) measured it at 6.6.

Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said 26 badly damaged buildings would be demolished in Izmir, the country’s third-largest city.

“It’s not the earthquake that kills but buildings,” Oktay said.
