A group of whale watchers spotted hundreds of dolphins swimming together in the ocean near the California coast on Sunday, astonishing video shows.

The remarkable footage, which shows about 300 dolphins stampeding, was posted online by Capt. Dave’s Whale Watching Safari.

“It’s thought that the dolphins could be evading a predator such as orcas, racing to catch a food source, or meeting up with another pod of dolphins,” reads a statement by the company.

The video was shot close to Dana Point, a coastal city in Orange County in Southern California.
