Secretary of State mobile office to visit OCCOA building on May 28

GAYLORD — The Otsego County Commission on Aging is partnering with the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) to bring an SOS Mobile Office to its facility in Gaylord.

The first SOS Mobile Office visit to Otsego County is scheduled for 10 am. until 3 p.m. on May 28 at the commission on aging (OCCOA) building, 1165 Elkview Dr., in the upper level. Additional visits are also planned for July 23 and Sept. 24. Appointments are encouraged and can be made by calling the OCCOA Advocacy Department at (989) 732-9977.

“This SOS Mobile Office will serve people in Northern Michigan who live with barriers, including older adults (age 60 and over), veterans and people living with disabilities,” said mobile office coordinator Kelly Davis in a statement.

“We currently have five mobile offices in the state, and the one coming to Gaylord at the OCCOA will be the sixth. Mobile offices differ from ‘brick and mortar’ SOS offices in that they bring Secretary of State services directly to community organizations. We’re meeting people where they are," added Davis. “Also, other than instant titles, people can complete the same transactions that they could at a standalone SOS office, including first-time Michigan IDs, driver’s licenses or ID renewals, title transfers, and applications and/or renewals for disability placards."
