The event will feature a panel of local elected leaders who will provide information on how to best engage with them and their organizations. Benson, meanwhile, will provide updates and handouts about voting in Michigan.

"We realize advocating for issues you believe in can be intimidating and overwhelming," Social Action Committee Chair Lynn Ward Gray said. "We wanted to demystify engaging with elected leaders and their organizations by providing some tips and tools for success.”

Panelists will include Benson, Calhoun County Commissioner Monique French; Marshall Public Schools Board Secretary Marjorie Newman; and Battle Creek Public Schools Trustee Nicole Perry. The program will be moderated by Gray.

The event is free and open to the public, though online registration is appreciated on the Battle Creek Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. Facebook page. For more information, call (269) 830-2456 or email g4bcnow@gmail.com.
