Second victim of intentional 18-wheeler truck crash at Brenham DPS office dies

A second victim has died as a result of the intentional 18-wheeler crash earlier this month at the Texas Department of Public Safety's office in Brenham, about 90 miles southeast of Austin, the DPS said in a post on X.

The second victim was identified as Cheryl Turner, a 63-year-old resident of Brenham. She was among the six people who were taken to hospitals after the crash April 12. Another unidentified victim was also in critical condition, and that person's current condition is unknown. The DPS did not respond to a request for comment.

Bobby Huff, 78, was taken by medical helicopter to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital in Bryan, where he died shortly after the crash, according to a DPS statement.

Clenard Parker, 42, faces nine charges, including one murder charge, with bail totaling $4.05 million, according to county records. It is unclear whether Parker will face an additional murder charge in connection with Turner's death. The Washington County district attorney's office did not respond to requests for comment. The sheriff's office declined to comment and directed questions to the DPS.

Parker had visited the DPS office near U.S. 290 the day before the crash, seeking to renew his commercial driver's license, but he was denied. On the day of the crash, Parker stole the truck and led police on a chase that culminated in the crash at the DPS office, the Texas Rangers said at a news conference hours after the crash.
