The Seasonal Aldi Treat That Shoppers Won’t Buy Because They 'Eat Them Too Fast'

Technically, maple season comes in late winter or early spring. However, the sweet taste and heavy nature of maple syrup make it a perfect fit for fall, able to stand up to sweet apple cinnamon and rich pumpkin spice.

It's why Aldi chooses autumn to bring out its fan-favorite Benton's Maple Leaf Cookies. For the unfamiliar, these cookies are part Oreo with a flavor and flare all their own. The filling? It's made with real maple syrup from Canada. It's sandwiched between a pair of crisp maple leaf-shaped cookies.

Benton's Maple Leaf Cookies, which cost $3.49 for an 11-oz. box, are the perfect companion to after-dinner espressos but are also delectable all by themselves. Don't trust me (or the box)?

Take it from Reddit. One poster was curious about Benton's Maple Leaf Cookies and turned to the experts in the Aldi subreddit.

Dozens of commenters chimed in, with most basically screaming, "Do it" (with a warning label).

"They're very good and come from Canada — the maple syrup capital of the world," noted one. "Be careful, though; they're quite addicting."

That was a common thread in the comments section.

"Yes, they’re good," wrote someone else. "My kids wipe them out every time I buy them."

"I won't buy them anymore because I eat them too fast," concurred a poster."They're addictive."

"They didn't have any the last time I was in there, but last year I ate more than I'll ever admit to," said a commenter.

Another has stopped resisting.

"They are so tasty," the person said. "I eat way too many."

Others tried to deter the original poster — but not for the poster's sake.

"They’re terrible, don’t buy them…proceeds to fill shopping cart," the keyboard reverse psychologist said.

However, not everyone is a fan.

"I was disappointed," conceded a Redditor. "[I was] expecting more maple flavor, but it's been a few years since I tried them. I love maple."

"Way too sweet," said another.

"They're way too sweet for my taste, but I think they're a good cookie if you like super sweet," wrote another commenter.

The bah-humbugs aren't deterring some Aldi shoppers from giving Benton's Maple Leaf Cookies a shot.

"Of course, I see everyone’s reviews after I just get back from Aldi — a treat for my next trip," one poster said.

"Thanks, everyone — now I'm gonna buy them, too," said a convert. "I was wondering how they are."
