Search continues for California mother who vanished from son’s football game

Friends and loved ones of missing mother Heidi Planck called on the community for help as their search for the California woman entered its third week.

Planck was last seen watching her 10-year-old son play football in Downey the night of Oct. 17. She was joined by her former husband, Jim Wayne, who told Dateline his ex appeared “edgy” before she disappeared from the sporting event around halftime.

“She was a little bit antsy, yes. I don’t know why,” Wayne said on Monday. “All I know is that was the last time I saw her or talked to her.”

Wayne said he became concerned when he did not hear from Planck in the coming days and finally reported her missing when she failed to pick up their son from school on Oct. 20. The same day, authorities performed a wellness check at Planck’s home, which remained in pristine condition.

Heidi Planck has been missing for more than two weeks.

The Los Angeles Police Department over the weekend released security footage that shows Planck leaving home with her dog before her arrival at her son’s game. Her dog was discovered just hours after she disappeared, on the 28th story of an apartment building in downtown Los Angeles.

Wayne said the security inside the building is extensive and that he was unsure how the dog managed to access each floor. He added that he does not understand why Heidi would have visited the apartment.

According to CBS2, building officials have denied authorities entry to the residence.

“She’s a devoted mother who would never, ever leave her son,” Jim said. “We have a 10-year-old boy at home that’s looking for his mom and we just need to find her.”

Planck is white, 5-feet-3 inches tall and weighs about 120 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes.

If you have seen or have any information regarding the whereabouts of Planck, Heidi please contact the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at 213-996-1800.
