Scottish Premiership fan views: Nerves and renewed hopes in top-six race as Dons fans wish season to end
It was the whirlwind before the Old Firm Sunday storm, but there were plenty of talking points from Saturday's Scottish Premiership games to get the fans of the other 10 clubs talking.
While Heart of Midlothian and Kilmarnock continue their straightforward march to third and fourth place respectively, St Mirren clinched their spot in the top six, while Motherwell's win and defeats for Hibernian and Dundee mean there is a three-team race for the final place.
However, Aberdeen's top-six hopes have ended, while St Johnstone have pulled three more points clear of Ross County in the relegation play-off place.
Let's start with Motherwell's dramatic finale at Dens Park. But visiting fans were not totally satisfied despite the comeback from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against a home side who would have settled the top-six issue had they won.
Norrie: Disappointing to say the least for 70 minutes. But to get three points is the real surprise. If we get a top-six place, it would be nothing short of a miracle. Not much more you can say. Just got to be happy with the win.
John: Outstanding second-half display and fully deserved. Character shown in abundance when staring defeat in the face.
Colin: In the end, we deserved to win the game even though the breakthrough came from a penalty (those are given these days but shouldn't be). Unfortunately fell behind yet again. Defence has been a problem all season, especially from cross balls. Liam Kelly was poor in goal yet again, he needs dropped.
Taylor: The Well Society has done well for the club and the community since taking over. However, the trend from recent years shows us falling further towards relegation. Some new investment can't be a bad thing if we want to consistently challenge European places and to solidify our top-flight status. We need to be able to buy players, not just loan them.
Dundee fans were unhappy at both their side's inability (again) to hold on to a lead and the decisions of the match officials.
Iain: It's shambolic to be quite honest. How can a team lose from being in a two-goal lead so many times in a season? Tony Docherty's surely got to be drilling that into the players about the importance of holding on to a comfortable lead.
Carl: Losing points from being in a winning position is nothing new this season and needs sorting out as soon as. However, all is not lost. We need to vocally back the team in the two games left before the split. Onwards and upwards.
Doug: The defensive fragility shown by the Dee this season is not the hallmark of a team deserving of a top-six finish. If - and it's a big if - the Dees manage to get three points from the next two games and secure a top-six finish, they can consider themselves to have been extremely fortunate. Forget the Rangers game, give it their all against Aberdeen.
Anon: I cannot believe Tony Docherty's statement that he can't criticise the players. What, 11 minutes to go and we lose the match. What as a team must they do to attract criticism? Maybe the Rangers match will be the trigger.
Kevin: Yet again games are being refereed outside of the ground. We are now getting to the point where we don't need on-field officials. Nobody on the field or in the stadium claimed for a penalty and were completely bamboozled when the game was held up - get rid now.
Roberto: Dreadful decision to award a penalty. Turned the game completely. Looked inexplicable at the time and doesn't look any better now that I've seen the highlights on BBC.
Hibs can go into next weekend's trip to Motherwell still in with a chance of clinching a top-six finish - as long as Dundee do not beat Rangers in midweek - but their fans are understandably not happy with the home defeat by St Johnstone, with their head coach coming in for most flak.
John: I hate to say this, but Nick Montgomery has to go. If he speaks to the players the way he addresses the media, it's no wonder they are not performing. They are comatose!
Colin: We're in the bottom six because of our defensive and mental frailties. We knew what we needed to do and failed miserably. We only stepped up the tempo when we conceded a goal. We need quality defenders and mentally strong players urgently.
Bill: Nine wins in 32 games. Terrible VAR decisions aside, that tells a story. He hasn't delivered many, if any, big results. Poor stuff nearly all season.
Steven: I was at the game - no fight, no passion, no clue. Please don't say we had 72% possession, because 70% of it was in our half, going across the back and back to the keeper. Nick Montgomery, to say you understand the frustration - no you don't. You get paid to watch that rubbish. We, as fans, pay £400 a season to watch the rubbish tactics you play every week.
Gordon: Manager just not good enough. Hibs have a stronger squad than all teams above us bar the top three. But all of those teams have a better manager than us. The complete inability of this board to employ a decent manager has let us down for years. We haven't had a manager worth his salt since Neil Lennon. The owners and board have to take the flak here.
Kenny: Nick Montgomery has to go. Another poor performance. I had to leave before the end as I couldn't watch any more. Bring in Neil Lennon now. We can't give the present manager any more time or money. We are too big a club to be in the position we're in.
Allan: Bad day at the office for Hibs. Controlled the game apart from their two shots on goal. We seem intent on scoring from inside the box, but the weather was asking for early shots when in decent positions outside the box. Although it'll feel raw and some may disagree, Monty is the man to take the club forward and build a team that'll become consistent.
St Johnstone fans were pleased with the result and performance from Craig Levein's side at Easter Road.
John: Great defensive performance from the Saints. Andy Considine was immense against a very quick Hibs frontline. Lots of battling qualities shown and a great finish from Adama Sidibeh and pleased for Tony Gallacher to get off the mark. Dimitar Mitov in goal was outstanding despite the early rush of blood that could have been a penalty.
Steven: Everyone is on about how negative our tactics under Craig Levein are but was always confident in his appointment. Keep us in the league and more to come next season.
Aberdeen pulled one point further clear of second-bottom Ross County, but their dull goalless draw away to Livingston has their fans thinking of better things next season once a new manager is appointed.
Paul: They just look so disinterested! Can't score but persist with one up front. Massive clear-out of the dross needed and, considering how many are new, it's not a good look. Season can't finish soon enough!
Mike: Harder to beat, not great to watch, but who cares? It's just about getting the points to stay up, which, unlike a few weeks ago, is starting to look like we will.
Fred: Today emphasised that the current team is definitely bottom-six standard. No real creativity and lacked quality all over the park. Another summer rebuild will be needed to get us back into European contention. Such a shame after last summer's recruitment. The new manager will need many new players to avoid a repeat of this season.
Justin: Very poor in the creative department. But a predictable result that eeks us closer to safety. Seven points from the last three games isn't bad, so let's get this season over with.
Niall: Accepting the bouncy pitch and the windy conditions, this was really hard to watch. A really abject performance with so much at stake. Why not test the goalkeeper more? The Dons seem completely clueless in the final third and results elsewhere keep the pressure on.
John: I will be glad when this season ends. New manager and new players might improve next season, but I have got the impression that Aberdeen have lost the big-time flourish they used to have. Other teams don't respect us any more and you don't get that back overnight. The next manager must be up to high standards and so must the players he brings in.
Livingston fans do not even have entertainment as compensation for seeing their bottom-of-the-table side slip one step further towards relegation.
Kev: What a borefest. Two poor teams lacking in skill and entertainment. If this was someone's introduction to the Scottish Premiership, it would certainly put them off ever attending again.
At the other end of the table, Hearts fans are largely happy with their lot as their side consolidated third place with a win away to fifth-placed St Mirren.
Chris: Was worried when I saw Lawrence Shankland was missing. Like realising you've left your wallet behind somewhere. But the team did well under awful conditions. Ten away wins for us is an incredible achievement and we need find a way to beat Livingston next week to cement third place. A team we usually find near impossible to break down.
Colin: The improvement in Hearts' away form is superb. But for one mistake, the wrong player as last man, it would have been another clean sheet.
Norrie: A job well done in extremely difficult conditions. Our fans were fantastic.
Andy: The stormy elements put paid to any hopes to either side's hopes of bringing their A-game! Wasn't a great spectacle, but credit to Hearts for finding a way to win in the circumstances and up the points tally as they try to secure third place before the split.
Ian: A good match to win. Still worry about the defence though. Why so many players upfield, which led to their goal?
Finally, Kilmarnock fans were satisfied with their lot after a narrow win over relegation-threatened County.
Derek: Very challenging conditions but brilliant to come out on top again. What Derek McInnes and the players have done this season, particularly in Ayrshire, has been absolutely fantastic - and it definitely feels like fourth spot is in their grasp now. A win next week and it's assured in my opinion.
Scott: One of those games where the elements determined the pattern of play for both teams and fortunately we came out on top thanks to a Kyle Vassell wonder-strike. That's us three points closer to securing fourth and a European place.
Anon: Superb team togetherness, a level of quality all through the squad and belief is there for all to see. Won against physical opposition and the weather, missing players and our captain playing through the pain with an injury.
Adam: Another three points, fantastic result and a great goal by Kyle Vassell. Thought we maybe should have introduced substitutes a bit earlier and used them all! But credit to those who battled hard for a result.
Robert: Obviously delighted with the result and we were by far the better team. However, the conditions completely spoiled the event. There has to be a level where extreme winds should result in a postponement.
Cheryl: It was a very slow burner, but we got the crucial three points in the end.
