School closings: These Middle Tennessee districts are dismissing early, closing due to weather

With the threat of severe weather, Middle Tennessee schools are closing or letting students out early Wednesday.

The National Weather Service expects multiple rounds of severe storms to come through Middle Tennessee Wednesday. Damaging winds, large hail and tornadoes are possible, according to NWS. Much of Middle Tennessee is under an enhanced risk (3 out of 5) for persistent and widespread intense storms.

The next 48 hours are expected to be very active, NWS posted on social media. The weather service recommends having a safety plan in place.

Middle Tennessee school closures and early dismissals:

  • Cheatham County Schools: All after school activities canceled. Daycares will close at 5 p.m.

  • Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools: All after school activities canceled.

  • Dickson County Schools: All after school activities canceled. Daycares will close at 4:30 p.m.

  • Houston County Schools: Schools will dismiss at 2 p.m.

  • Maury County Schools: All after school activities canceled.

  • Robertson County Schools: All after school activities canceled. Daycares will close at 4 p.m.

  • Stewart County Schools: Early dismissal at 1:30 p.m.

  • Sumner County Schools: After school activities canceled.
