A bus crash is under investigation after two students were injured in front of Panther Creek High School in Cary.

About 6:40 a.m. Thursday as students were arriving for the day, buses 594 and 1785 collided at a low speed, according to Sgt. Kenric Alexander of the Cary Police Department.

One student suffered a bitten lip during the crash and the other was taken to a local hospital by his parents for further evaluation.

The buses were turning into a drop-off point on the campus at 6770 McCrimmon Parkway, when traffic suddenly slowed down.

As the buses began to stop, one struck the rear of the other, Alexander said, adding the area can become congested in the mornings.

Between both buses, about 50 to 55 students were on board.

Alexander said any school bus collision takes days to complete because they have to “identify every kid on board and notate exactly where they were sitting on the bus.”

We will update this story as we get more information.
