School budget results are in for the Binghamton area: Who won seats, what was approved

Southern Tier residents headed to the polls Tuesday to vote on proposed school district budgets for 2024-25.

In addition the budget, voters weighed in on the purchase of new school buses and capital projects in their districts. They also decided races for board of education candidates.

Here's a roundup of preliminary voting results for school districts across the Binghamton area.

Afton Central School District

  • The proposed school budget for Afton Central School District passed with 146 to 91 votes

  • School bus resolution passed with 132 to 105 votes

  • Elected school board member: Nicki Andrews

Binghamton School District

  • Binghamton school district voters passed the $150,961,791 proposed budget, with 879 to 304 votes

  • Elected school board members: Steve Seepersaud, Mary Ann Callhan and Shaunte Middleton

Candor Central School District

  • Voters passed the $21,401,620 budget for Candor CSD (number of votes not yet provided)

  • The bus purchase proposition passed

  • 2025 capital reserve was passed

  • Funding for the Candor Free Library was passed

  • Elected school board members: Craig Nevins, Kate Davenport and Jessica Spaccio

Chenango Forks School District

  • Voters passed the proposed budget for Chenango Forks school district with 166 to 75 votes

  • The bus proposition passed with 167 to 74 votes

  • Elected school board member: Lynn Lockwood

Chenango Valley School District

  • Voters passed the $49,529,645 budget for Chenango Valley school district with 281 to 71 votes

  • Electric bus bond proposition passed with 212 to 144 votes

  • Diesel bus bond proposition passed with 272 to 82 votes

  • Fenton Free Library levy proposition pass with 286 to 70 votes

  • Elected school board members: Shaun Boorom and Carl Winter

Delaware Academy Central School District

  • The proposed budget for Delaware Academy CSD passed with 193 to 48 votes

  • School bus lease proposition passed with 201 to 47 votes

  • Elected school board members: Tammy Neumann and Lauren Raba

Deposit Central School District

  • Voters passed the $19,239,581 budget for Deposit CSD with 158 to 27 votes

  • Bus proposition passed with 158 to 27 votes

  • Elected school board members: Stacey Axtell and Dawn Faulkner

Franklin Central School District

  • Voters passed the proposed budget for Franklin CSD with 116 to 29 votes

  • Bus proposition passed with 106 to 38 votes

  • The budget for the Franklin Free Library passed 111 to 33 votes

  • Elected school board member: Patricia Taggart

Greene Central School District

  • Voters passed the $32,084,906 budget with 111 to 68 votes

  • The transportation proposition for two school buses, one van and one SUV totaling $413,182 passed with 127 to 51 votes

  • Elected school board members: Brain Milk, Sherwood Fendryk and Christopher Austin

Harpursville Central School District

  • The proposed budget for Harpursville School District passed with 125 to 22 votes

  • The bus proposition was passed with 119 to 27 votes

  • Elected school board members: Nicole West and Nicole Robertson

Johnson City School District

  • Voters passed the $72.5 million budget, with 324 to 188 votes

  • The purchase of one 57-passenger wheelchair-accessible and two 66-passenger electric buses passed, with 314 to 202 votes

  • Elected school board members: Matthew Jablonowski and Shannon Edmondson

Newark Valley Central School District

  • The budget for Newark Valley CSD passed with 179 to 119 votes

  • School bus proposition passed with 195 to 112 votes

  • The capital reserve fund for the bus purchase passed with 199 to 95 votes

  • Elected board members: Lisa Jensen, James Phillips, Molly Dennis and Stuart Wandell

Owego-Apalachin Central School District

  • Voters passed the $57,879,272 budget, with 758 to 342 votes

  • Five new school buses approved, with 811 to 287 votes

  • The $28,500,000 proposed capital project passed, with 750 to 348 votes

  • Additional taxpayer funding approved for the Apalachin Public Library and the Coburn Free Library

  • Elected school board members: Nora Schumacher and John Crawford

Sherburne-Earlville Central School District

  • The proposed budget for Sherburne-Earlville Central School District passed with 158 to 29 votes

  • The capital reserve fund passed with 159 to 28 votes

  • Elected school board members: Debra Kurtz, William Tyrrell, Ethan Johnson and Kerry Simmons

Susquehanna Valley School District

  • The proposed budget for Susquehanna Valley School District was passed with 300 to 52 votes

  • The bus purchase proposition passed with 31 to 51 votes

  • Elected school board members: Ryan Remza, Timothy Strnatka and Annie Bensley

Union-Endicott School District

  • Voters passed the $105 million proposed budget, with 1,322 to 384 votes

  • Bus proposition was passed with 1,283 to 414 votes

  • An 86-arce land purchase was passed with 1,125 to 578 votes

Vestal Central School District

  • Voters passed the $90 million proposed budget, with 822 to 362 votes

  • The proposed school bus purchase was approved, with 781 to 401 votes

  • Newly elected school board members: Chadwin Smith, Eric LaClair and Amanda Atkinson

Windsor School District

  • The proposed budget for Windsor School District passed with 296 to 92 votes

  • Elected school board members: Margo Kibbler and Megan Waldron-Carroll
