Operation Taco Gary’s “tells the story of Danny (Rex), an off-the-grid conspiracy theorist who takes his estranged brother, Luke (Milligan), on a road trip with a secret agenda.” Character details for the other stars are yet to be revealed (via Deadline).

“We’re so lucky to have Dustin joining our film to play Luke. He’s compelling to watch and someone whom the audience will certainly relate with,” said writer-director Kvamme of the announcement. “We’ve been able to assemble a remarkable ensemble who we think will yield the best possible version of Operation Taco Gary’s.”

Mulligan appeared in all six seasons of Schitt’s Creek, which concluded in 2020 after a run of 81 episodes. Despite the apparent conclusion of the show, lead star and co-creator Daniel Levy did tease the possibility of the characters returning for a feature film as long as it’s the “right story.”

“My hope is that one day we can all get together. I see these people all the time,” he said. “We're in constant contact with each other. So the love is there. The desire to work together is there, and the desire to tell more stories is there. I think it just comes down to making sure that it's the right story to tell.

“We're also proud of the work we did on Schitt's. And when you end on such a high, it really forces you to think very carefully about what the next step is. Because whatever that is, is an extension of something that most people don't have, don't get to see in their life. And I really respect the audience in that [regard],” he added.
