Schedule update for South Carolina softball in Durham Regional for WCWS after beating Utah
South Carolina softball's path to advancing out of the Durham Regional and to the Super Regionals is clear.
The Gamecocks schedule was altered due to weather on Saturday, but they opened Sunday with a 5-1 victory over Utah in an elimination game. South Carolina is scheduled to play regional host and No. 10 Duke at 3:50 p.m. ET in another elimination game for the Gamecocks. Initially, it was reported South Carolina would need to win three times to advance to the Super Regionals, but more clarity was provided Sunday.

If South Carolina beats the Blue Devils in the sixth game of the Durham Regional, the teams would not play again Sunday, a third game for the Gamecocks in a day. Instead, the two teams would be scheduled to play at 2:30 p.m. Monday, per the NCAA website.
The Gamecocks potential elimination game against Duke for a shot at the Super Regional against the winner of Missouri-Omaha would be a standalone game on Monday, as every other bracket is projected to conclude Sunday. The Tigers need to beat Omaha twice to advance to the Super Regionals.
