Raiders quarterback Derek Carr was injured on his team’s opening drive Sunday, taking a hit from the Texans after a pass to Davante Adams.

Carr was on his knees for a few seconds before he walked off the field, then took some practice throws on the sideline.

He left with what looked like a right arm injury, but much to the delight of his teammates and Raider Nation, he returned after only missing one play. Carr said after the game he took a shot to his ribs.

The opening drive led to a field goal by Daniel Carson for a 3-0 lead over the Texans.

Carr finished the game, completing 21 of 27 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown with a passer rating of 116.2 in the Raiders’ 38-20 victory over the Texans.

Carr detailed the injury after the hit.

“I didn’t want to stay down,” he said. “Sometimes they catch you. He just hit me in my ribs. I had no breath. The pain from that, as soon as I could catch my breath, it hurt too much to breathe. I did my best. I tried to get up one time and tried to push up and couldn’t do it and finally as time went on, it felt better.

“Honestly, that’s the only thing that bugged me. I hate coming out for a play.”
