A South Carolina woman recently found a symbol of American freedom sick in her driveway.

The Georgetown-area woman stepped outside her house and discovered a bald eagle, according to Georgetown County Fire & EMS Facebook post.

When she realized that the bird appeared sick, she brought it to the Georgetown County fire station for help.

Crew members at the fire station, in turn, contacted the Center for Birds of Prey in Awendaw. The bird sanctuary agreed to have the woman bring the eagle to them for evaluation and treatment, the post states.

Attempts to reach the Center for Birds of Prey for an update on the eagle’s condition were unsuccessful on Wednesday.
