South Carolina ranked as the ninth most ‘luxury obsessed’ state, according to recent Google data.

The ranking came from a recent study by Chrono24, a luxury watch marketplace, that took Google Trends data from the past year from Google searches of luxury goods.

The study used a “searches score” to determine an overall luxury score to recognize the ranking of each state’s interest in luxury goods and living. The scores were based on searches for the terms luxury, luxury cars, luxury goods, luxury travel and luxury apartments.

Ranked in first, the most ‘luxury obsessed’ state in the U.S. was New York with an overall luxury score of 63. This state had the most found Google searches for the terms luxury and luxury goods. Researchers used this information as an indication that residents of this northeastern state were more interested in luxury items than residents of any other state, according to the study.

Delaware received the second place ranking. Nicknamed “The First State,” Delaware received a 62 luxury score and was reported to have the most searches out of any state for luxury apartments and the third most luxury cars searches. This suggests that residents of this state are interested in luxurious living by means of grandeur real estate and vehicles.

Next, Mississippi, Florida and Georgia were placed in third, fourth and fifth places respectively with overall scores of 58.60,54.20, and 53.60.

South Carolina was ranked ninth in the county as one of the most luxury obsessed states, with a score of 51.60, after being found to be the second state with the greatest number of Google searches for luxury cars and the second highest searches score for luxury travel out of the top 10 most obsessed states.
