Savannah Guthrie Gives Her Unfiltered Thoughts on Kelly Rowland's 'Today' Dressing Room Situation

Savannah Guthrie, Kelly Rowland

Today's Savannah Guthrie is speaking her piece on the situation that occurred with Kelly Rowland's scheduled appearance on the broadcast last week.

Reports had previously stated that the former Destiny's Child singer abruptly left the set of the talk show due to a discrepancy with her dressing room not being up to par. Her team has neither confirmed nor denied the statements made regarding her exit, however, in addition to Hoda Kotb addressing what transpired, Guthrie is now chiming in with her own thoughts as well.

In response to the situation, the co-anchor communicated a sense of pure understanding on the matter, noting that the specified green room areas could, in fact, stand for some updates.

"What can I say? Yes, our dressing rooms need a little TLC," Guthrie told People at the launch party for her new book, Mostly What God Does, in New York City on Wednesday, Feb. 21. "But I have to say, we have a historic studio that has been around for 70-plus years. It's a small space and it's not that easy to renovate. So, you know, I totally get it."

She continued: "I've actually gotten to see a lot of green rooms lately and there are some phenomenally beautiful ones, but I hope for what we lack in green room decor we make up for in the warmth and gratitude we have for the guests who come on because it means a lot to us. Let's call it intimate. We'll call it intimate. Cozy."

As for their response to what happened with Rowland, the broadcast journalist and author, as well as the rest of the Today team, have no ill feelings toward the R&B songstress, and actually hope to have her back on the show in the near future.

Kotb, who was also in attendance on Wednesday night, shared, "I've been texting back and forth with Kelly and having a couple of phone calls," adding, "So, I mean, I love her. I think she's one of the gentlest, kindest people that we've met."

“She's one of those people who's like, she may be one of the nicest celebs we've ever had. That's who Kelly is, by the way. So, whatever the snafu was with the dressing room, we want to delete, delete, delete. And then, we want her to come back," Kotb continued.

Additionally, Jenna Bush Hager joined the ladies of the Today crew at the function in support of her colleague, hopping into the conversation to give her thoughts that Rowland is "so lovely."

"She's invited whenever," Bush Hager insisted of the "Motivation" singer, quipping, "And our dressing rooms do need work."

The mom of two was scheduled to appear on the show to promote her starring role in Tyler Perry's latest film, Mea Culpa, which hits Netflix on Feb. 23. She has also recently visited The Kelly Clarkson Show, Sherri, and more along her promo tour.
