Even after a tough year, Savannah Chrisley, 26, is still moving forward and making the most out of every opportunity that comes her way. In the past year, the Chrisley Knows Best star's parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, were both incarcerated, she took over primary custody of her 17-year-old brother Grayson and her 10-year-old niece Chloe and she grappled with the sudden death of her ex-fiancé Nic Kerdiles.

Savannah made the decision to usher in her "year of yes" in an effort to keep moving forward past dark times and set a good example for Grayson and Chloe. So, when the opportunity arose for Chrisley to compete on The Masked Singer, she couldn't say no.

"Honestly, it was just an opportunity that came to me and I was like, you know what, this is my year of yes, let’s say yes, let’s do it," Chrisley told Country Living of her decision to join the show. "It was something that I could connect with my parents over and I just wanted to embrace uncomfortable situations because obviously I can’t sing, I was not confident going into it. Honestly, though, it was such a great experience." Savannah also knew that her parents would be able to watch the live broadcast, though she admitted her dad, Todd, would likely be less than impressed with her singing abilities.

The Masked Singer competitors have the chance to prepare for the show by participating in vocal lessons, but Savannah passed on the opportunity. "They allow you to get with a vocal coach and all these things, but I wasn’t going to waste anyone's time, honestly, because there was nothing to work with," she joked. "It wasn’t like you can do a few vocal lessons and you’re gonna be great. No, there was just no way, it was just a waste of time. So I decided to go into it blind. I’m just gonna have fun. I’m gonna kinda be the joke, and I feel like it played out pretty well." Chrisley competed on The Masked Singer season 11 as the Afghan Hound and was unmasked on Wednesday, March 13.

Chrisley admitted she wasn't shocked or upset to be unmasked after her first performance, considering her lack of musical experience. "I was so happy, I mean I knew. It wasn’t like I went into it like ‘oh I’m gonna win this.’ I went into it and was like let’s have fun and when they unmasked me I was like alright this was a good little taste. One and done, never again,” Chrisley explained. Although she won't be the big winner of season 11, Savannah was able to conceal her identity well. The Masked Singer panelists offered guesses including Brook Hogan, Olivia Jade, Bethenny Frankel, and Sistine Stallone.

Chrisley was happy to get a laugh out of the audience and her friends, family, and even herself. "They all thought it was the funniest thing in the entire world [...] I wanted to bring laughter to people and show them that like 'hey, you can go out here, you can have fun, you can laugh at yourself.' That’s what life is all about, and we tend to take life way too serious," Chrisley concluded.

Now that her stint on The Masked Singer is over, Savannah is staying busy looking after her sibling and working on an appeal for her parents' sentence along with hosting her podcast "Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley."
