Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway had a blunder on tonight’s (March 18) episode, with special guest Toni Collette accidentally swearing during the live broadcast.

The Knives Out star took part in the ‘Saturday Night in the Movies’ segment, where families around the country re-enacted famous scenes in the hope that the actress could secure them a place on the plane.

As one family used props to recreate 2004’s Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, the Hollywood star struggled to identify the film from the clues, and dropped an expletive (“s***”) as she gestured towards the audience for help.

Several fans took to social media to express their joy at the blunder, with one user writing: “I knew Toni Collette would swear she’s Australian”. Another user also found the moment amusing, writing: “They probably paid loads of money to get Toni Collette on the show just to have her swear live on air #SaturdayNightTakeaway”.

Another user was similarly surprised that the duo managed to convince the actress to appear on the show, writing: “Not that i’m complaining bc i love her but HOW did this lot get mother icon legend toni collette #SaturdayNightTakeaway.”

The hosts seemingly referenced the debacle by quoting the famous line from Collette's breakthrough role in Muriel's Wedding, telling the actress that she was “terrible.” They also made light of the matter later in the show by imploring a guest not to swear, quipping that they had “already had one.”

Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway airs on Saturday nights on ITV1 and ITVX.
