She has served a term as president on the board of the Little Theatre of Tuscarawas County, secretary of the Tuscarawas Arts Partnership and trustee of the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.

She holds a bachelor of arts in English from Kent State University and a master of arts in higher education from the University of Michigan.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sarah as the new president and CEO of United Way of Tuscarawas County," said Chris Lane, United Way board chair. "Her exceptional leadership qualities, combined with her deep commitment to our community, make her the ideal choice to lead our organization forward. We are confident that under Sarah's guidance, the United Way of Tuscarawas County will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout Tuscarawas County."

Spies will replace Robin Waltz, who is retiring this spring from the United Way. Waltz has been CEO since 2016.

In addition, Susan Reidenbach has been promoted to the position of director of community engagement. In her new role, she will play a part in fostering community partnerships, enhancing volunteer engagement and leading outreach efforts to further advance the United Way's mission.
