Sarah Fuller Announces She’ll Take Part In Presidential Inaguration

The story of Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller is one of broken barriers and progress.

So, it’s only fitting that Fuller participates in a presidential inauguration that shares in these traits. Alongside President-Elect Joe Biden, Kamala Harris will become the first woman and first woman of color to take the office of Vice President later this month.

Fuller announced her future participation in the historic event on Sunday afternoon.

“It’s an honor to be invited to participate in one of America’s greatest traditions,” Fuller wrote on Twitter. “This historic inauguration is especially meaningful for American women and girls. The glass ceilings are breaking and it is the time to #LeadLikeAWoman @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden @BidenInaugural.”

Earlier this season, Fuller became the first ever woman to play in a Power 5 football game. Just a week later, the Commodores women’s soccer player turned football kicker continued to make history — becoming the first woman to score in a Power 5 game.

Her first-quarter extra point will be forever immortalized in the College Football Hall of Fame. The No. 32 Fuller uniform and game ball are already proudly on display.

Sarah Fuller won’t be the only barrier-breaking woman to join Biden’s guest list. Kim Ng, the first female MLB general manager, will also participate in the event.

The 2021 presidential inauguration will take place on Jan. 20 at noon E.T.
