The royal family has plenty of Christmas traditions, but perhaps the best known of them all is their annual gathering at Sandringham, the royal estate in Norfolk, where they walk together on Christmas morning to the Church of St Mary Magdalene, greeting members of the public along the way. As usual, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie—the daughters of King Charles's brother, Prince Andrew, and Andrew's ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York—were among the royals in attendance. Notably, this year, they were joined by their parents.

Though Prince Andrew has stepped back from royal duties, he still has joined the royals at Christmas. However, the inclusion of Sarah Ferguson, who split from Prince Andrew back in 1992, was significant. Ferguson, also known as Fergie, last joined the Christmas day walk in 1991.

But there she was today, walking beside Prince Andrew, her son-in-law, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, and her daughter Princess Beatrice.

The Duchess of York was festive in green, and was all smiles as she greeted the well-wishers who gathered to spot the royals on their walk to church. "We are enjoying each other’s company and feeling grateful today. I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Happy Christmas to anyone who celebrates and season’s greetings to all!" Ferguson posted on X (formerly Twitter).

While both Eugenie and Beatrice are moms, the littlest royals in their families did not make a public appearance, likely due to their ages. Eugenie's eldest son, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, will turn three in February, and she just welcomed her second, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank, this May. Beatrice's daughter, Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi, was born in September 2021, but has yet to make her public debut.

Last year marked the return of the annual holiday walk after two years of cancellation amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the first year that King Charles made the walk as monarch after his accession in September 2022.
