From the moment Tully and Kate first graced our screens back in February 2021, we knew that Firefly Lane was something special. We've loved watching the bond between these two best friends, as well as getting to know each character individually. While legendary talk show host Tully may be the flashier of the pair, the show just wouldn't be the same without Kate Mularkey and her big heart, witty commentary, and surprising wild side.

That's why we're taking some time to get to know the actress behind the character we adore so much: Sarah Chalke. If Sarah seems familiar to you, it's for good reason: She's had starring roles on two super popular shows, plus notable appearances in plenty of other series. Read on for a brief overview of Sarah's career and some other interesting facts about the actress!

You likely remember Sarah from “Scrubs” and “Roseanne.” But she's also on “Rick and Morty” too.

Fun fact: Sarah was pretty young during her role as Becky on Roseanne. According to the Toronto Star, she was just 16! Sarah entered the sitcom during the show's final four years, from 1993 to 1997. And when producers decided to do a brief spinoff in 2018 (The Conners), Sarah was there for that, too!

After she left Roseanne, Sarah found continued success on the small screen. She played Ted’s almost-wife Stella in How I Met Your Mother; Melanie in Speechless; Merrill in Friends from College; Gina in Paradise PD; and more. But of course, her most popular role after Roseanne was as Dr. Elliot Reid on Scrubs, the hit medical comedy that ran from 2001 to 2010.

What you may not have known is that Sarah is also a major part of the animated series Rick and Morty, where she’s voiced Beth since 2013. So cool!

Is Sarah married?

Sarah shares two children with her former fiancé, Jamie Afifi: a 12-year-old son, Charlie, and a 6-year-old daughter, Frankie. Sarah and Jamie split sometime before 2022, according to People.

Sarah clearly loves being a mom, and often shares fun tidbits about her family life on social media. (Like how tie-dyeing T-shirts can go terribly wrong. We get it. 😂)

She’s still close with her “Scrubs” pals.

Especially Zach Braff and Donald Faison, who played J.D. and Turk on the show. In fact, she joined Zach and Donald on their podcast, Fake Doctors, Real Friends in September 2020. The episode is bound to be hilarious, so you’ll probably want to check it out.

Though we’ll always love her for her past roles, we can’t wait to watch Sarah shine on Season 2 of Firefly Lane. Let us know your thoughts about the show in the comments!
