Santa Fe's Beck & Bulow integrates bitcoin into business operations

May 6—Santa Fe butcher shop Beck & Bulow is integrating bitcoin into its business operations, now accepting the cryptocurrency as payment online and in the store.

The company says it also will use bitcoin for its employee 401(k) program and will convert 20% of its assets to the cryptocurrency "because we believe it's a strong store of value and no longer want to see our fiat savings debased," the company said in an April news release.

The move to accept bitcoin as a form of payment and to holding it and any revenue generated from it in its reserves received praise and coverage from Bitcoin Magazine, whose post on X, formerly known as Twitter, generated nearly 5,000 likes.

Beck & Bulow said the company has integrated a third-party processor, IBEX, online "with plans to upgrade to self-hosted, open source payments infrastructure later this year, including running our own node and self custodying our Bitcoin."

"We are thrilled to be on the cutting edge with this technology, and excited about the payments optionality it extends to our customers," the company said.
