Santa Fe Film Institute grant cycle open until May 31

May 3—The Santa Fe Film Institute's fourth annual grant cycle is open.

Over the past three years, 14 film projects have received the grant, which has been awarded filmmakers in New Mexico, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

Jacques Paisner, SFFI board president, says many of the funded films have been completed with the support of SFFI, and the Regional Grant has also served as a stepping stone for emerging filmmakers to acquire funds from other sources in order to create their projects.

"I'm so excited about the high-quality projects, and exciting filmmakers that have been funded by the Regional Grant," Paisner says. "It's a chance for filmmakers in the area to apply for unrestricted funds to make their films. I think it's a program that is really taking off."

This grant is exclusively available for New Mexico residents and filmmakers residing in surrounding states — Arizona, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas.

Multiple grants will be awarded, and applications are considered under two categories. New Mexico residents can apply for up to $5,000, and residents of Arizona, Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas can apply for up to $3,000, which is an increase from last year's $2,000 limit.
