A San Antonio shooting early Sunday morning left two men dead and several others injured. Here's what we know.

Market Square shooting in San Antonio

The shooting occurred just after midnight on the last day of San Antonio's Fiesta celebrations. The San Antonio Police Department reports two officers were patrolling the area near the stage at Conch Alley when they heard gunshots.

Two men had allegedly begun shooting at each other in Market Square, according to police. Two officers followed as one of the suspects, 18, attempted to flee the scene. Police said the suspect allegedly turned to continue firing at the other individual, 20, when the officers returned fire.

The 18-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to SAPD. The 20-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he also died.

SAPD Chief William McManus says four innocent bystanders were also injured in the shooting.

Of the four bystanders injured, two were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other two were treated at the scene.

According to San Antonio Chief of Police William McManus, two weapons were recovered at the scene, each found near the two suspects. The identities of the suspects, as well as what prompted the shooting, have not yet been released.

Fiesta De Los Reyes ends early

Following news of the shooting, Fiesta De Los Reyes announced the event would end an hour early, closing at 11 p.m. on Sunday instead of midnight.

The post received mixed responses, with some saying 11 p.m. was still too late and others demanding more security measures at the event.

A similar incident occurred during last year's Fiesta. Omar Rodriguez, 25 at the time, was shot in the chest near Market Square. Rodriguez spent over a week in the ICU with a broken rib and blood and air in his chest, according to News4SanAntonio.
