Samuel L Jackson lands next lead movie role in new Netflix drama
Samuel L Jackson has landed his next lead movie role in new Netflix drama The Piano Lesson.
The film is based on the August Wilson play of the same name, and is also set to star Tenet's John David Washington.
Also part of the star-studded cast are Justice League's Ray Fisher, Till's Danielle Deadwyler, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom's Michael Potts and The Tragedy of Macbeth's Corey Hawkins.

The story focuses on the aftermath of the Great Depression in Pittsburgh in 1936, centring on the Charles family led by Jackson's Doaker Charles and their family heirloom – a piano decorated with designs carved by an enslaved ancestor.
Washington is set to take on the role of Boy Willie, Doaker's nephew, while the movie will be directed by Malcolm Washington, who also co-writes the adaptation alongside Virgil Williams. John David's father Denzel Washington is also on board as a producer.
Jackson and John David Washington recently appeared in a Broadway revival of the production alongside Fisher and Potts.

Wilson, who passed away in 2005, originally wrote the plays Fences and Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, which were both adapted into acclaimed movies, both starring Viola Davis (she won an Oscar for the former).
Both plays, along with The Piano Lesson, form part of 'The Century Cycle', which looks at the experiences of the African American community in the 20th century.
Jackson is currently gearing up to return to the MCU as Nick Fury in new Disney+ series Secret Invasion, which is set to co-star Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke and Ben Mendelsohn.
The Piano Lesson will stream on Netflix.
