Samuel L. Jackson has landed his next lead movie role, following on from Marvel's Secret Invasion.

As reported by Deadline, the Nick Fury actor is starring in The Beast, alongside Suicide Squad's Joel Kinnaman. Jackson will play the President of the United States, who will find his country under attack from a militia of unidentified hostiles.

Separated from his wife and Kinnaman's Secret Service agent, Jackson's President will need to turn to the titular Beast, a presidential limousine that's essentially an impenetrable tank filled to the brim with weapons. The question isn't just 'can he defeat the villains and save the day?', but also 'can he handle all this power without turning into a beast himself?'

The film is currently in pre-production and might actually go ahead sooner rather than later, due to an interim agreement set in place by the union SAG-AFTRA, which states that actors can work on projects during the strike as long as all the parties involves are independent and not directly tied to the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, who are the main opponents of the union in the strike.

One of the big things the actors are striking over is the use of AI and the worry actors will be replaced by digital copies of themselves, something Jackson recently spoke about.

"The first time I got scanned for George Lucas, I was like, 'What's this for?'" he said.

"George and I are good friends, so we kind of had a laugh about it because I thought he was doing it because he had all those old guys in Episode I and, if something happened to them, he still wanted to put them in the movie."
