Samoyed’s Big Adventure at the Empire State Building Is a Trip To Remember

Have you ever visited the Empire State Building in New York City? It's on my bucket list to visit one of these days, and it's something I am looking forward to. Samoyed Little Bear Lumi was invited to visit recently, and his mom shared their adventures on March 14th; it gave me total FOMO!

Lumi starts the day by turning on the lights in the building...lucky dog! He checks out the statues throughout the building and tries to make friends with them, not realizing that they're not alive. Make sure to watch till the end for the incredible view from the top and the huge smile on Lumi's face!

I never thought I'd be jealous of a dog, but here we are. Both Lumi and his mom looked like they enjoyed their day and got to do some things that many of us might not get the chance to do. Commenter @Avia hit the nail on the head when she said simply, "Goals."

Facts About Samoyeds

Lumi is a really cute dog, and it made me realize that I don't know much about his breed. I did a quick search and found some interesting facts about Samoyeds. They were bred to be working dogs that herded reindeer in Siberia and are one of the oldest dog breeds around. They're known to be gentle, extremely friendly, and highly adaptable dogs. And just look at Lumi's adorable smile - they're very happy dogs, too! But the smile isn't just so they always look camera-ready. The 'smile' helps them from drooling out of the corners of their mouths, which would create drool icicles in Siberia...evolution solved the problem!

These dogs make amazing family pets and are good with children of all ages. They get along with other dogs and pets. They thrive in the cold - in Siberia temperatures can drop to negative 60 degrees, so if you live where it gets really cold, a Samoyed will feel right at home!

Samoyeds are closely related to wolves, and often 'sing' not unlike wolves' howl. If you Google it, you can find different clips of these pooches singing and it's very cool! Interestingly, they don't produce the typical dog odor and are 'stink-free' pups. This has to do with their double coat, which doesn't produce much dander at all. Another cool thing about their fur is that it's often used as an alternative to wool in knitting! Their fur is often used to create artificial flies used in fly fishing, too.

The Samoyed seems like a great dog to consider if you're considering adding a fur baby to your family. Make sure to do your research before choosing a dog to bring home - many dogs are really cute but may not fit your family's lifestyle.
