Sam Asghari Breaks His Silence on Split From Britney Spears
Sam Asghari has confirmed his split from Britney Spears and broken his silence on the situation.
On his Instagram Story yesterday, the model and actor shared a statement. “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” he began.
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Shit happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful,” he continued.
News of Asghari and Spears’s split first broke Tuesday, when a source told TMZ that the former couple had a “huge fight” over cheating allegations that led to Asghari moving out of their shared home in Los Angeles.
Soon, it was confirmed that Asghari had filed for divorce from Spears—three weeks ago.
“Britney and Sam have split,” a source confirmed to Entertainment Tonight. “She’s adamant she didn’t cheat. The two haven’t got along for a while and it finally came to an end after a major blowup.”
Reps for both Spears and Asghari declined to comment, per ET and People.
The two had been married for a year.
Spears and Asghari, who started dating after meeting on the set of the singer's “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, tied the knot in a private ceremony at her Los Angeles mansion in June 2022. Soon after, Spears announced she was pregnant, but sadly lost the baby a few months in.
