Salvation Army of Henderson to host free Thanksgiving meal

HENDERSON, Ky. – The Salvation Army of Henderson will offer a free Thanksgiving meal for anyone who needs it over the holiday.

It will take place at the organization's headquarters at 1213 Washington St. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

“Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings we have and share them with others," said Major Stephen Story said in a news release Monday.

The Salvation Army expects about 400 people and is seeking anyone who would like to volunteer to help cook and serve the meal. Anyone interested call 270-826-4472 to sign up.

The organization is also pairing up with Meals on Wheels to deliver meals to homebound individuals.

"(We're) honored to continue the tradition of providing a warm and welcoming environment for the community to come together, enjoy a delicious meal, and celebrate the spirit of gratitude," Story said.
