Salvation Army of Clarksville launches campaign to secure new roof

The Salvation Army of Clarksville is launching its latest campaign, ‘Raise the Roof,’ to address the urgent need for a new roof for its corps building located at 208 Kraft St.

The building, constructed in 2009, serves as a vital hub for the community, housing the emergency shelter for men, women, and families, along with a commercial-grade kitchen and dining hall, administrative offices, and the chapel. With several leaks compromising the infrastructure, The Salvation Army is seeking to raise $65,000 by May 31 to replace the roof and ensure the safety and comfort of its guests.

Major Kati Chase, Corps Officer in Clarksville, emphasized the critical nature of this campaign.

“The deteriorating condition of our roof has created significant challenges for our operations," she said. "Leaks not only disrupt our ability to provide essential services but also jeopardize the health and safety of those seeking shelter under our roof. We are immensely grateful for the support we’ve received from the community in the past, and we know we can count on them once again to help us address this urgent need.”

Last year alone, The Salvation Army in Clarksville served over 17,000 meals, offered more than 9,500 nights of shelter, and distributed more than 4,000 clothing items to individuals and families facing hardship in our community. However, without a structurally sound roof, the organization risks compromising its ability to continue these vital services.

The Salvation Army's goal is to raise $65,000. The campaign welcomes larger gifts from corporate sponsors as well. All donations are 100% tax-deductible, and donors will receive a receipt for their contributions.
