Saltburn's Alison Oliver lands next movie role

Saltburn star Alison Oliver has landed her next movie role, securing a part in The Beacon alongside Ralph Fiennes.

As per Deadline, the star has joined the project along with Indira Varma and Charles Babalola, with Fiennes also penning the script in addition to directing the film.

“Joshua Nyaga travels to the countryside from London to spend a summer’s weekend with his girlfriend Cass’ family for the first time,” begins the logline for the film.

“Transplanted as a young boy from the violence of the Ugandan civil war to the concrete jungle of London, Joshua has never experienced the privilege that Cass’ family enjoys.

“Surrounded by the sea and lush natural landscape, the farm is an oasis, brimming with idealistic notions and lively debate amongst Cass’ father, stepmother and their longtime friend of the family, Michael.

“But Joshua’s warm welcome is short-lived, when a sudden act of violent racism at a local summer concert shatters the peace forcing Joshua and those around him to confront the uncomfortable truth of their differences.”

Fiennes’ previous directorial efforts include Coriolanus, The Invisible Woman and The White Crow, though The Beacon will be his first screenplay. There is currently no release date for the project.

Oliver starred as Venetia Catton in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, which follows Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) as he becomes fixated with Felix (Jacob Elordi) after meeting him at university, eventually spending the summer at his opulent mansion.

The film has been noted for its many outlandish scenes, one of which sees Keoghan dancing nude to Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’, with the star revealing that he was more nervous about his moves than exposing himself.

“Without sounding cocky, it wasn't the nudity. That was fine for me. It was the dancing,” he said. “I don't really dance, I don't know how to move my hips certain ways and your body has to go in certain directions and stuff like that.”

Saltburn is streaming on Prime Video now.
