Salma Hayek Details Her 'Profound Sadness' After Death of Co-Star Matthew Perry

Actress Salma Hayek shared a meaningful and emotional message after learning of the passing of Matthew Perry, with whom she starred in the 1997 romantic comedy Fools Rush In.

The 57-year-old posted a few images of herself and Perry during that time period on Instagram on Monday, Oct. 30, including one with George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg.

"Two days ago, I woke up to the shocking news that Matthew Perry is no longer with us. It’s taken me a couple of days to process this profound sadness," she wrote alongside the photos. "There is a special bond that happens when you share dreams with someone, and together you work towards them."

Hayek then stated that she was "very moved" when Perry wrote about Fools Rush In on Instagram last year and said that it was "probably my best movie," with the actress sharing a screenshot of the moment.

Continuing, she said, "Throughout the years, he and I found ourselves reminiscing about that meaningful time in our lives with a deep sense of nostalgia and gratitude."

The actress directed the final part of her message at Perry, writing, "My friend, you are gone much too soon, but I will continue to cherish your silliness, your perseverance, and your lovely heart. Farewell, sweet Matthew, we will never forget you."

Camila Cabello commented, "💌," on the post, while Mario Lopez added, "❤️❤️."

Linda Evangelista also replied to Hayek's sweet tribute, writing, "🖤🙏🏻💔🕊️💔🙏🏻🖤."

Many fans shared their personal connections to Fools Rush In, such as someone who wrote, "I treasure that movie and Im so sorry for this loss. It feels like we all lost a friend."

"One of my all time favourite movie! You were magic together.🙏," said another, while a third wrote about their whole family loving the film, saying, "That movie is mine and my parents favorite movie so sad about his passing."

Perry passed away on Saturday, Oct. 28, at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 54.
