'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 9' Launches a New Twist

It's time to play the Snatch Game! With the Ball Challenge last week and Snatch Game this week, RuPaul is quickly working his way through the fan favorite maxi challenges on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9. The eight competing queens have now completed three weeks in the Werk Room and are one step closer to being inducted into the Drag Race Hall of Fame and earning $200,000.

Only, in Season 9, things are working a little bit differently. Unlike every previous season of the show, this time the queens are not competing for themselves. They're competing for charity. Each of our eight girls have selected a charity and all of their winnings will go to support that good philanthropic work. Also, as with All Stars 7, no one will be going home this season. Instead, each week the top two queens will earn Benefactress Badges, with the three queens who have the most badges competing against each other in the finale for that crown (and cash).

Each week the top two queens will also lip sync in order to win a cash tip for their charity AND the ability to "cut off" one of the bottom six queens. That queen will then be ineligible to earn a Badge the following episode even if they win.

Here's everything that went down in Episode 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9:

Gottmik

For the second challenge in a row, Gottmik has not only earned a Benefactress Badge and a spot in the top two, but she's also won the lip sync and earned $10,000 for her charity. For the Snatch Game, Gottmik played the dog Pal, the original Lassie, as if she was an aging Hollywood starlet, an out-of-the-box move that really paid off. Her top-surgery inspired runway look sealed the deal and solidified that she will be unbeatable when it comes to fashion.

Then, despite delivering a ho-hum lip sync for the second week in a row, she managed to snag a win given that she's faced off two of the season's worst competitors in Plastique Tiara and Nina West. Nina stumbled through a series of lame reveals before ultimately losing to Gottmik.

Gottmik & Nina West

The Ohio queen earned her first Benefactress Badge this week by making Ru chuckle as Liberace during the Snatch Game. After earning a "meh" from RuPaul on her original season's lip sync, Nina stumbled again here as she struggled with a reveal-heavy outfit without much payoff. Both she and Gottmik, however, will have a shiny new badge in Episode 4.

Jorgeous

After Gottmik won the lip sync, she was granted the power to cut off another queen, making them ineligible to earn a Benefactress Badge next week. With Angeria Paris VanMichaels cut off this week and Nina West safe, Gottmik's options were Jorgeous and Plastique if she wanted to cut off a queen with a badge. Gottmik opted to block Jorgeous.

What was the twist on Episode 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 9?

RuPaul introduced a twist this week regarding the Benefactress Badges. In addition to Nina West and Gottmik each earning a badge for themselves this week, they also earned the ability to give a badge to another queen, with no one off limits. Much discussion of strategy and alliances was made in this week's episode, but it seems most likely that the extra badges will be given to Shannel, Roxxxy Andrews or Miss Vanjie, who have all yet to earn a Benefactress Badge on their own. Those will be handed out at the beginning of Episode 4.
