Canyon County will select legislators for Senate and House seats in the Nov. 8 general election.

Legislative District 11, which previously covered more rural parts of Canyon County before redistricting last year, now includes Caldwell and some unincorporated areas of the county.

The District 11 Senate seat and two House seats are contested, with Republican and Democratic candidates running in each race. Each seat has a two-year term.

The Idaho Statesman sent surveys to each of the candidates. Only half of them responded. The following candidates did not respond: Chris Trakel, R-Caldwell, for Senate; Robert Scoville, D-Caldwell, for House position A; and Chris Allgood, R-Caldwell, for House position B.

Responses from the remaining candidates — Toni Ferro, D-Caldwell, for Senate; Julie Yamamoto, R-Caldwell, for House position A; and Marisela Pesina, D-Caldwell, for House position B — are copied below, unedited.
