rue21 in Akron closing along with rest of stores as company files for bankruptcy

The rue21 at 790 Arlington Ridge in Akron will close along with the rest of the company's stores.

The teen fashion store chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is closing all of its 543 U.S. stores, according to Reuters and The Indianapolis Star.

Representatives from the store's Akron location declined to provide comment to the Beacon Journal on Monday.

The store's website lists 29 stores in Ohio, including the one in Akron, the only rue21 in Summit County.

This is rue21's third Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing since 2003, according to Reuters.
