RSPCA rescue three abandoned pug puppies
An animal welfare charity have taken in three 12-week-old puppies from the same litter, which were abandoned across Peterborough.
The RSPCA has been caring for pugs Millie, Lilly and Billy at Block Fen Animal Care Centre in Wimblington, Cambridgeshire.
The charity has begun investigating the incident after the dogs were taken in "poorly" and appeared snotty and suffering with eye ulcers.
Naomi Sadoff, RSPCA's animal rescue officer, said: "We are grateful to everyone who helped keep these poor puppies safe."
'Care and encouragement'
One of the 12-week-old puppies was found in a car park at a Sainsbury's supermarket in Oxney Road in Peterborough, and the other two were found nearby at the Welland Estate on 3 April.
The trio of dogs were believed to have all been from the same litter.
Ms Sadoff said the charity will now investigate the incident and said the "young pups were all quite poorly".
"It’s really sad to think someone just abandoned them in this way. We understand the financial difficulties some people are experiencing right now, however abandoning your pet is never the answer," she said.
Tiffany Saunders, who has been caring for the dogs since they were found, said after "lots of care and gentle encouragement" they are "improving every day".
The charity has urged anyone who has any information about the incident to get in touch.
