Royal news - latest: Prince Harry in court for privacy hearing as King Charles visits Germany

Prince Harry is at the High Court for the final day of a preliminary hearing in a privacy battle against Daily Mail publisher Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL).

The Duke of Sussex joined Baroness Doreen Lawrence for the hearing as ANL hopes to have the claims dismissed without a trial.

The court heard Baroness Lawrence’s witness statement in which she said she felt “played for a fool” by the Daily Mail, believing the newspaper “really cared” about the injustice of the murder of her son Stephen Lawrence.

The baroness said she learned a journalist allegedly instructed a private investigator to target her, saying that she “never thought to blame” the newspaper.

A lawyer representing the complainants said “this is nothing short of gaslighting”.

While Harry was in court, his father the King is in Germany, where he became the first British monarch to address German politicians from the Bundestag, while the parliament is in session.

Charles delivered a speech that celebrated the deep historical bonds and longstanding links between Germany and the UK.
