Royal Family Shares New Prince Louis Portrait in Honor of 6th Birthday (and It Was Taken by Kate Middleton)

Celebrations are in order for Prince Louis, who is turning six years old today (April 23).

In honor of Prince Louis’s birthday, the royal family shared a brand-new portrait on social media.

Many royal fans were wondering if a Prince Louis portrait would be revealed at all (even though it is tradition) after Kate Middleton’s recent Photoshop debacle. And, of course, fans were eager to see if said portrait would be taken by the princess or not. Luckily, the royals not only provided a photo, but they revealed it was taken by the Princess of Wales herself.

The caption read, “Happy 6th birthday, Prince Louis. Thank you for all the kind wishes today.” And it revealed that the pic was taken by the princess.

So, how did the Wales family celebrate Prince Louis’s birthday? Well, many believe that Kate Middleton followed through with her annual tradition of making a birthday cake. According to a report by The Sun, it was speculated that the royal would make a celebratory dessert for her son, despite revealing her cancer diagnosis in an emotional video message back in March.

Back in 2019, Princess Catherine appeared on Mary Berry’s A Berry Royal Christmas special and revealed that she “loves” making her children’s birthday cakes from scratch. It has become a household tradition for the Wales fam.

“I love making the cake. It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ’til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much,” she said at the time. “But I love it.”

Wishing a very happy birthday to Prince Louis!
