KIMBALL TWP. — A local childcare facility has more spaces available for children after an expansion.

Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball has expanded its facility by two classrooms and a new office space and can now accommodate 100 children. The center will have an event to commemorate the expansion starting at 4 p.m. on Jan. 22.

"All of our rooms were full, and we were getting a lot of inquiries," said Program Director Maggie Nowakowski. "This area doesn't have a lot of childcare options. There's a need for it."

Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball is located at 4819 Lapeer Road inside the Victorian Plaza. Its hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. It opened in 2021.

After expanding, Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball now occupies all but two spaces inside the Victorian Plaza.

Owner Melanie McPeake said it feels great to expand the center and the community has been nothing but positive.

"We are very excited about what we offer here for families," she said.

Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball has classrooms for infants, one-year-olds, two-year-olds, beginning preschool for 3-year-olds and a four-year-old preschool. The center also offers afterschool programming for school-aged children.

A program offered at the center is a new version of the Leader in Me program, which teaches leadership skills to elementary-aged children. This new version has been updated to engage with children aged from infants to preschool.

McPeake said Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball is one of the first childcare centers to offer this version of the program.

"What we offer is different," she said. "We are a full day, academic program that really helps prepare the children for kindergarten."

Rosebrook Child Development Center Kimball also has a nature play area in the woods just beyond the building that the children play in daily.
