'The Rookie' Fans Are Shouting That Chenford "Broke" Them After This Emotional Scene

The Rookie season 5 is still reviving up and viewers are desperate to see Bradford (Eric Winter) and Chen (Melissa O'Neil) stop denying their feelings for each other.
While it's still unclear whether the duo will take their romantic tension to the next level, they took folks on an emotional roller-coaster during the latest episode of the ABC drama. Viewers saw Tim go to the hospital after aggravating a previous injury from a bullet wound and needing surgery.
But what was initially an option for Tim quickly turns into an emergency operation, as he gets attacked and temporarily paralyzed by the same fugitive he tried to arrest. Unfortunately, no one mentions this to Lucy, who immediately freaks out and marches into his recovery room post-surgery. "Are you OK?" she worriedly asks Tim. "Why didn't anyone tell me?"
Fortunately, The Rookie fans learn Tim is going to be alright and the doctor expects he will "make a full recovery."
It turns out, he was concerned over the way Lucy would react to his potential paralyzation and asked everyone to keep her out of the loop until the results fully came in ... which included the news he was dumped by Ashley (Helena Mattsson) right after surgery. In a surprise twist, Lucy's response was to simply sit with him as he recovered.
What a unique way to continue building Chenford's relationship! Fans clearly had lots of feelings about the newest development for this couple, as they immediately shared their reactions to the emotional scene on social media.
"Uggghhh I just love how much they’ve always cared about each other ❤️," one person wrote on YouTube. "This scene broke me 😭😭😭," another commented. "Tim needs to JUMP ALREADY before he does something stupid (as usual) to kill it," a different follower added.
As for how this will affect Tim and Lucy moving forward, it's hard to say. Folks already know the two went undercover as a couple in the season 5 premiere, with sexual tension already brewing. But with Ashley out of the picture and questions surrounding Lucy's boyfriend Chris (Kanoa Goo), a romance might be more possible than ever.
Needless to say, The Rookie fandom needs Chenford to happen sooner or later ...
