Lamborghini has signed former Haas Formula 1 racer Romain Grosjean as a factory driver from 2023, with plans to have him drive the company's LMDh race car starting in 2024, the automaker announced Tuesday.

The Swiss-French driver, who spent the last two years in IndyCar with Dale Coyne Racing and Andretti Autosport, will make his first appearance behind the wheel of a Lamborghini at the 24 Hours of Daytona in January driving a Huracán GT3 EVO2 fielded by Iron Lynx. Grosjean will be joined by fellow factory drivers Andrea Caldarelli and Mirko Bortolotti.

Lamborghini says it plans to put Grosjean in a number of GT3 races in 2023, but has not published his full schedule. In addition to driving a Huracán next year, Grosjean will also act as a development driver for Lamborghini's LMDh car, which it plans to run in both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Sports Car Championship in 2024.

“First of all, it’s an honor to be joining Lamborghini, it’s such an iconic brand for everyone who loves cars, including myself and my kids," Grosjean said in a statement. "On top of that, I am very excited about two things: The first is starting in Daytona with the GT3 which has been very successful in Daytona and a really good team like Iron Lynx and team-mates around me, so that is going to be a nice discovery for myself. And then, later in the year developing the new LMDh which is a beautiful car—I’m lucky to have seen it—and an incredible project in endurance."
