Rod Stewart and son plead guilty to battery in 2019 New Year’s Eve assault case

He’s not stewing over this anymore.

Rod Stewart and his son Sean both pleaded guilty to simple battery in connection with an assault on a security guard on New Year’s Eve in 2019 in Florida.

Neither the 76-year-old rocker nor his 41-year-old son will spend any time in jail, pay any fine or be placed on probation.

The “Maggie May” singer was accused of punching a security guard in the ribs on Dec. 31, 2019, at The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach. The Stewarts were reportedly upset that children in their family had been denied access to a play area.

Sean Stewart was accused of shoving the security guard, whose name is Jessie Dixon. The Stewarts thought they had a plea deal in January 2021, but it fell apart in October and they were headed for trial. But that trial will no longer happen.

“No one was injured in the incident and a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation,” his attorney Guy Fronstin said in a statement. “Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high profile proceeding would cause.”

Dixon agreed to the deal, according to Palm Beach State Attorney Dave Aronberg’s office.
