Rockies, Reds Reportedly Agree To Pitcher Trade
As the MLB trade deadline draws near, teams have to make a final decision on whether they will be buyers or sellers this year.
The Cincinnati Reds are clearly in the former category. After trading for New York Yankees relievers Justin Wilson and Luis Cessa late last night, the Reds added another piece to their bullpen today.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, Cincinnati is acquiring right-handed relief pitcher Mychal Givens from the Colorado Rockies.
Givens is one of the better relief options on the market, having posted a 3-2 mark with a 2.73 ERA in 31 appearances this season.

With a 52-49 overall record, Cincinnati is in second place in the NL Central, seven games behind the Brewers. They’re also six games back of the San Diego Padres for the final NL wild card spot.
The Reds’ playoff odds might not be great, but these trades indicate they are clearly going all out to make the postseason.

The 2021 MLB trade deadline is set for 4 p.m. ET on Friday, so expect to see a flurry of moves in then next 51 hours.
