Rockford truck driver charged in Boone County crash

Boone County Sheriff's Police are searching for a Rockford man charged in connection with a March crash that left a motorist critically injured.

A semitruck on March 8 crossed the centerline in the 2900 block of Genoa Road and hit a 2012 Chrysler 200, according to a news release. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle and was flown by emergency helicopter to a hospital for treatment.

A grand jury on May 2 indicted Jorge E. De La Torre, 30, of Rockford, on charges of aggravated reckless driving, violation of qualifications, violation of brake requirements and violation of inspection requirements among others. Aggravated reckless driving is a class 4 felony punishable by one to three years in prison, the release said.

Although a warrant was issued for De La Torre's arrest, police have not been able to find him.
