Robert Irwin Reacts to Being Labeled a Heartthrob by Fans in Thirsty Comments (Exclusive)

Robert Irwin attends the Endometriosis Foundation Of America's (EndoFound) 12th Annual Blossom Ball at Gotham Hall on May 3, 2024, in New York City.

It's no secret that the world has embraced Robert Irwin as a national treasure. However, the 20-year-old conservationist still hasn't wrapped his head around fans labeling him a heartthrob—and recently, he addressed the topic during an exclusive interview with Parade.

On Friday, May 3, Robert walked the red carpet ahead of the Endometriosis Foundation of America's (EndoFound) 12th Annual Blossom Ball. The event at Gotham Hall in New York City honored his older sister, Bindi Irwin, with the Blossom Award.

"Being a heartthrob, it's a title I didn't think I would bestow," Robert told Parade with a laugh. "It's not a title I think I've quite come to terms with yet. But thank you, I will take it."

For the son of Terri and the late Steve Irwin, spreading his message as a conservationist is most important.

"I feel like my job as a wildlife conservationist and an advocate for so many causes—humanitarian and conservation and the environmental space—I have a platform to reach a lot of people and get a message out," Robert continued. "And if that message and that platform, you know, is through the heartthrob channel, it's all good. I will proudly bear that honor, and it's very flattering."

He reiterated, "I don't really see it, but it's very flattering."

Meanwhile, a quick look at Robert's recent Instagram posts reveals plenty of thirsty comments from strangers, like, "So, if we get married... can this be my every day?" "It’d be more perfect if i was with u though," and, "Growing up is really suiting you 🔥❤️‍🔥."

For those who might be curious, Robert is currently single. He and his ex-girlfriend, Rorie Buckey, announced their split after a year of dating in February.

“We wanted to share that we have decided to go our separate ways but profoundly appreciate all the time spent together and wish one another all the very best into the future,” they wrote in a joint statement via an Instagram Story. “We wish to express the gratitude and respect we have for one another as we continue our journeys on different paths."

Given his heartthrob label, however, Robert has plenty of potential suitors lined up if/when he chooses to get back in the dating game.
