Richmond man charged with sexually assaulting woman

RICHMOND, Ind. — A Richmond man has been accused of sexually assaulting a female acquaintance.

Alejandro Correa Rodriguez, 29, was charged in recent days in Wayne Superior Court 1 with rape and strangulation.

According to an affidavit, a Richmond woman told city police Rodriguez sexually assaulted her — and choked her — at her home on Feb. 11 after she encountered him at a Super Bowl party,

The woman said she repeatedly told Rodriguez she did not want to have sex with him.

Interviewed by police, Rodriguez maintained "the entire encounter was consensual," the court document said. He reportedly acknowledged he was the source of hand marks on the woman's neck.

Arrested Wednesday, Rodriguez was being held in the Wayne County Jail under a $30,000 bond. An initial hearing in his case is set for April 2.

The rape charge is a Level 3 felony carrying up to 16 years in prison. Strangulation is a Level 5 felony with a maximum 30-month sentence.
