Rich Shertenlieb to move into WZLX morning show slot, here's what you need to know

As two Boston radio mainstays leave, one returns.

Rich Shertenlieb, formerly of 98.5 The Sports Hub's morning show for almost 15 years, is set to return to Boston radio on classic rock station 100.7 WZLX.

Shertenlieb's new show was announced on social media on the same day that the radio station said in a Monday statement on-air that the current morning show hosts on WZLX, Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford, would be leaving the station.

"We’d like to thank Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford for all the laughter, wild stories, and fun moments they have brought to Boston morning radio over the years," the statement said.

McKenzie and Ford launched with their show on WZLX with Kevin Karlson in 2005. Karlson hosted on the morning show since its launch and passed away in late October of 2023.

"We have decided to close that chapter of WZLX,” the statement said. “It was our decision to bring you, the loyal WZLX listener, a new show to take us into the future. We will debut this new show soon."

"I've worked every day over the last several months to put together this show and great group of co-hosts," Shertenlieb's social media announcement said.

It is unknown when exactly Shertenlieb's new program will replace with the WZLX morning show.
