Resorts World Sets Dates for Vegas Mini-Residencies by Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan

Those ubiquitous TV spots we’ve seen for weeks that have outsized, miniaturized or underwater versions of Carrie Underwood, Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Celine Dion making their way through a colorfully mythical Las Vegas, without much concrete information attached? There are now concert dates to go with all that commercial iconography, as Resorts World has revealed the schedule for its opening few months of performances in its new 5,000-seat theater.

Dion, who has a bit of history in Vegas at a couple of other landmark venues, will add another historical first as she’s landed the premiere engagement at the Theatre at Resorts World Las Vegas. She has 10 shows set for November — a fraction of what she could do, obviously, given her multi-year runs in other venues on the Strip. Dion’s opening night Nov. 5 will benefit COVID Relief. Her initial engagement there will be broken down into five two-night stands on Nov. 5-6, 9-10, 12-13, 16-17 and 19-20.

Underwood, Perry and Bryan will follow as the featured stars of December, January and February, respectively (with Perry getting a slight head start on her January shows with some gigs on New Year’s weekend). Each of these three have a slightly lesser number of shows than Dion — eight for Perry and six each for country stars Underwood and Bryan — although that’s little reflection of the length of the bookings these artists could and surely will do on return visits.

Underwood, as the theater’s second tenant, will have performances Dec. 1, 3-4, 8 and 10-11. Perry is set to repeatedly ring in the new year on Dec. 29 and 31 and Jan. 1, 7-8, 12 and 14-15. Bryan will be your Vegas valentine on Feb. 11-12, 16, 18 and 19-20.

Concerts West/AEG Presents will exclusively program and operate the new theater, Wednesday’s announcement stated.

Tickets go on sale to the general public May 24 at 10 a.m. PT at AXS.com, preceded by a pre-sale for Citi card holders that runs from May 18-23.

It might seem like these mini-residencies are wrapping up almost as soon as they’re getting started, but Resorts World is clearly looking to lay its stake in the desert ground with six major draws bringing lots of attention back-to-back before they settle back in for what has strongly been suggested will be return engagements.

Resorts World Las Vegas is not rushing to get the entertainment underway. The resort itself is opening June 24, more than five months before Dion has her opening night at the theater.

The resort is promising “Las Vegas’s largest and tallest performance stage, with the furthest seat only 150 feet from the stage” and audio boosted by upwards of 265 L-Acoustics speakers.

Resorts World Las Vegas is the first major resort to open on Las Vegas’ Strip since the Cosmopolitan in 2010. It sits on the long-dormant site of the once famous Stardust, which was demolished in 2007 to make way for a complex that was never completed, before construction began on the current resort in 2017. It’s reported to have come at a cost of $4.3 billion. The hotel boasts 3,500 rooms.

Taking a stage at the resort sooner than the four aforementioned stars will be previously announced “nightlife headliners” Zedd and Tiësto, who also appear in the commercial that premiered during the Oscars.

The resort made some news earlier this month by announcing it would be among the first on the Strip to accept cryptocurrency.
